i so appreciate the way you parse these things out, keith.

i'd not heard of the term 'invalidation trauma' before reading it here, though i did talk about it in my most recent therapy sesh. and had not put that together, i'd not even considered before EXACTLY why it is getting spell / grammar corrected is so infuriating to me. among the many questions that should be thoughtfully considered around this that aren't.

Thanks, pan. I only became acquainted with the term "invalidation trauma" in recent years, too. As soon as I heard it, I felt seen. I love that there's a term that validates invalidation 😄

And few things irritate me more than the time I lose in wrestling with autocorrect and trying to shush AI from telling me that I should write something differently. I throw a lot of middle fingers, or at least middle finger energy at devices that couldn't care less about my ire. Thanks so much for reading and for the solidarity, friend. 💞

Thanks for your thoughts, Keith. As always, great to read and ponder.

I was delighted to be informed that I could type in a search engine bar and finish with " -AI", to get no AI-generated "summary" at the top of results. Whilst the it can be useful, you really don't know what slop the AI read to come up with its summary, as it tends not to ditinguish between gold-standard research and blogged opinions. This little type (and you need a space, then no spaces) really does help my overwhelmed brain.

Thanks for reading, Heather Lee - and thanks for this very helpful search engine tip! I shall try that, forthwith! So good to know that AI will yield if you specify that you want it to stand down (for now, at least). 🙏💖🙏

It was clear to me as a child watching “development” ruin the tight-knit neighborhood where I grew up, that this drive for “progress” would not stop. Adults had little or no ability to restrain themselves.

The only thing that grows unchecked is cancer. And we know the ending to that story.

Thanks for so eloquently writing about our confusion and outrage.

Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to add to this conversation, Valerie. Your child-self saw clearly what those adults could not, or would not, see. I'm sorry that "progress" eroded the tight weave of your neighborhood. What a loss! My fervent hope is that we can somehow continue to stay in authentic connection with ourselves and others, despite the tremendous push to get us to disconnect. 🤞💞🤞

Yes, that is the work- to stay connected to ourselves and others.

YES! I seriously hate AI soooooo much. You wrapped this all up with deftness, wit, and a side of spicy guacamole 🥑🌶️❤️‍🔥

I am sitting with the question of what it means (and takes) to be authentic in a world of artifice, artificial, awful 😣 a holes lol

Thanks, friend. I'm sitting in the question with you! Let's keep dishing on it, spicy guacamole optional 🥑🌶️❤️‍🔥🥵🙃😅

This echoes a lot of my own feelings about AI. Insightful, as always! Thank you, Keith!
